Easy Spaghetti Sauce

Spaghetti used to be a meal I made once a week. I'd always go back to it because it was easy and everyone liked it. Then I was introduced to the world of food blogs, and started my own. Spaghetti got pushed to the side lines because of all the new recipes I was wanting to make. I honestly don't think I had made it in over a year, until last week.

My Mom gave me an old cookbook that was made by her and the ladies in the Relief Society in our old ward. They all had submitted their most tried and true recipes. I was so happy she gave it to me because I knew there would be some gems in there. When I saw this easy Spaghetti Sauce recipe, it had me craving Spaghetti all over again! I made it last week and it was exactly what I thought it would be... Perfect!

Easy Spaghetti Sauce

1 pound lean ground beef
1 Tablespoon dried parsley
1 Tablespoon dried minced onion
1 Tablespoon Italian seasoning
1 Tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon pepper
3 (15 ounce) cans tomato sauce

DIRECTIONS:  In a large pot, combine ground beef and all ingredients except tomato sauce. Stir and break up the ground beef over medium-high heat, until fully cooked.

Slowly stir in the tomato sauce and heat to a boil. Reduce heat to low and let simmer 1 to 2 hours. Serve over spaghetti or your favorite noodles. Enjoy!

I know what you mean about the spaghetti! I just made it Sunday for the first time in a long time. Your sauce looks good, I will have to try it!

I'm a homemade spaghetti sauce fiend! The only thing I love more than making it is eating it. Is the flavor of the dried onion and garlic potent enough to come through in this recipe? Usually I sautee fresh.

Madeleine, I'm sure using fresh would make this better! I just followed the recipe as written and it turned out wonderful! :)

My mom made the best spaghetti sauce! I cannot duplicate it, but your recipe is very close! It looks fantastic.

Is it possible for this spaghetti to be included in healthy easy recipes?

We eat spaghetti quite often over here, too. I'll definitely have to have a go at your recipe... looks fab!

Love it! Sometimes the church cookbooks have the best recipes, especially for sauces!

I love homemade spaghetti sauce, so much better than the sauce that comes in a jar.

I have this recipe - got it about 20 years ago from my husband's grandma. She made it for us and I was surprised at how good it was. I haven't made it in a while. I think I will!

I love those old ward cookbooks. There are so many treasures in them. I've always been a little afraid to try my own spaghetti sauce but this looks doable!

What a great recipe for spaghetti sauce when you don't want to chop onions...just quick to throw together and wait as it simmers and the house starts to smell wonderful. I love those old cookbooks!
