Warm Bean Dip

So with all the talk and posting of Super Bowl party grub I have to be honest, I am not a fan of football. At all. No offense to any of you fans out there, but I'm just keeping it real. Thankfully, I lucked out and married a man that isnt a fan either. He is a lover of motocross and dirt bikes. I can live with that.

So with my confession, I do have to say that we like to watch the Super Bowl. My husband and I watch it every year and we enjoy it. I think one of the reasons we like to is for the good excuse to make all types of different appetizers to devour while we watch it. This bean dip is one I'll be making for it this year! It is D-I-V-I-N-E!

(no that is not my manly hand, it's my hubbys)

Warm Bean Dip

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 cup sour cream
2 cans (16 ounces, each) refried beans
1 packet taco seasoning
2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
2 cups monterey jack cheese, shredded

DIRECTIONS:  Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix together cream cheese and sour cream in a large bowl. Mix in refried beans until combined. Stir in taco seasoning.

Spray a 9x13 baking pan with cooking spray. Spread mixture evenly into the bottom of the baking dish. Sprinkle the top with both cheeses.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until cheese in melted and slightly browned. Serve with tortilla chips.

This looks amazing! My friends and I are bean lovers, haha, so we'll have to try this one day. Unfortunately, I just had my gall bladder removed, though, so it'll be a little while before I get to try it. Your recipes always look amazing!

My momma always makes this for get-togethers. I've been known to park myself in front of the casserole dish with endless scoops nearby. Too. Good.

I'm not a fan of the super bowl either...but an excuse to eat cheesy bean dip? I'll take it!

Oooooooh Baby! Now that is food:)

I LOVE this! We actually call it 'Man Dip' because the picky men in our family can't get enough of it.

I make one similar but I use the fat free retried beans on top of the 1/3 less fat cream cheese & then put a jar of my favorite salsa on top of that & then a layer of 2% cheese. It's yummy & a little lighter.

Rebecca said...

I just made this..and it is awesome! Thanks for pinning it to Pinterest! We love it!

My husband hates Mexican-ish food and especially any food with beans. It's a really sad situation because those are my two favorite types of foods. That said, I made this tonight and he devoured it! Thanks!

tia said...

I just made this tonight and it's AMAZING! I thought about adding some green onions and salsa but didn't have it on hand. Might add those with it next time. Thanks for the recipe! It was super easy and delish!

Anonymous said...

HOw do you keep it warm? Crockpot?

Anonymous said...

^^^---- I was wondering the same. I'd imagine it wouldn't take long for the cheese to start hardening after it gets out of the oven, unless you have enough people eating it fast enough to not have to worry about it, lol.

kristanskitchen said...

This looks delicious, but we don't eat sour cream. Is there a way to substitute something else in its place?

Thanks!

OOOO..THAT LOOKS SO GOOD!! IS THERE A LOW-FAT VERSION? LOL!

I am trying this tonight for a side dish to our mexican meal.Looking like it is gonna turn out awesome.

This is fantastic. I served it as an appetizer and there was not a drop left. I did use fat free re-fried beans and they worked great.

Yum! Beans with lard and tons more lard in the form of regular and cream cheese and let's not forget the lard filled sour cream!

Why not just scoop up some lard on a chip and call your doctor and tell him in a few years to schedule you for a triple bipass!

Anonymous said...

This sounds great. I make one similar I just add a jar of salsa between the beans and the cheese. Awesome!

Cathy V. said...

This was very easy and good. The only note I have to add is to eat it while hot. The cheese solidifies and gets hard if left outside too long!

Hepcat89 said...

I added a pound of browned Lean Ground Chuck, we ate it for dinner with tortilla shells. Yummy!

Ib's Mom said...

Instead of baking this, could you do it in a crockpot?

Lori said...

Soooooo good and cheesy! To anonymous with nothing good to say - beans are full of fiber and protein. The cheeses and sour cream are full of calcium. True, there is lots of fat and calories, but for an occasional snack - too good to pass up. Guess your mother never told you that if you don't have anything nice to say not to say anything at all.

Anonymous said...

You can substitute plain yogurt for the sour cream. I've done this on a few occasions and it turns out great!

Evelin said...

Ditto what Lori said!!! I plan on trying this today. Can't wait.

I make something like this and hubby swears (after 17 years of marriage) its why he married me :-) I might have to tries yours though, mine has only beans, cream cheese, a little garlic powder and cheese. Thanks for posting, and I found you via pintrest!

asobran said...

I just made it for a party... And it was a hit! I used fat free beans, Greek yogurt, and low fat cheese! I also baked my own chips! Thanks!

Made this tonight, soooo good. I think I'll use half the cheese next time though, got a little rubbery as it cooled. I used fat free sour cream & low fat cream cheese & couldn't tell a difference, it was still delicious!

After pinning but totally doubting this simple recipe, I tried it as part of my Pinterest-ing Meals Challenge and loved it! I can't wait to take it to a football party sometime soon. As someone who doesn't really care all that much for cream cheese, I was just shocked to find out what happens when you mix it with refried beans. :) Thanks!

Made this for New Years for family. Excellent taste and so easy to make. Did top off with some black olives for garnish.

I made this then realized I didn't have any chips on hand. I wrapped it up in a tortilla, similar to bean and cheese burrito. Very good, I've made this before and it is great as a dip also.

I saw this recipe in Pinterest, and had to try it. Unfortunately, I forgot my shopping list at home, so I bought what I could remember and altered the recipe a bit when I got home. Was still super yummy! Thank you for the inspiration! I tagged your recipe on my blog since your recipe is what inspired mine... I hope that is okay. :)
