Baked Spaghetti

We invited Kale's Mom and sister over for dinner Sunday night. A few days before, I asked his sister to decide what I should make. I gave her the choice between a roast with mashed potatoes or this spaghetti casserole. Needless to say, she chose the casserole. I'm so happy she did. We all really loved it! I found the original recipe over at Plain Chicken , but changed things up a tiny bit. I was really pleased with the end result but thought next time I'm going to add more sauce. This recipe is for sure a winner. This will be added to our dinner rotation often!!

Baked Spaghetti

12 oz Spaghetti Noodles
1 lb Lean Ground Beef
1-2 (24 oz) jars of Spaghetti Sauce ( I use Ragu)
1 (8 oz) package Cream Cheese
1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
1/2 cup shredded Parmesan Cheese
1/2 cup shredded Mozzarella Cheese
1/2 teaspoon dried Basil

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium-high heat until no longer pink. Drain grease. Stir in spaghetti sauce. Remove from heat. *NOTE*( I used one jar of sauce and thought it needed more. I suggest using 1 1/2 to 2 jars if you like saucy spaghetti)

Meanwhile, cook spaghetti noodles in a large pot of water according to package directions. Drain water and place hot noodles in a large bowl. Add cream cheese and italian seasoning to noodles. Stir until cream cheese has melted and noodles are coated.

Spray a 9x13 baking dish with cooking spray. Spread a small amount of meat sauce mixture in the bottom of the dish. Pour noodles over the top and spread out evenly. Pour the meat sauce mixture over the noodles and sprinkle evenly with both cheeses. Bake uncovered for 30 minutes, or until hot and bubbly. Sprinkle with dried basil. Let stand 5 minutes before serving. Serves 8-10

This looks so good! One of my favorite foods is a big bowl of spaghetti with marinara sauce, and this sounds like a tastier variation :)

I've always wanted to try my hand at this. I'm so used to regular spaghetti!

We love Baked Spaghetti! The version I make calls for cream of mushroom soup but I think I would rather use cream cheese. I will try your recipe next time. Actually I think I might make this within the next few days since I have everything I need. Thanks for sharing :)

I love love baked spaghetti. My version calls for 2 eggs to hold the noodles together and no cream cheese. Yummy stuff!

What a great dish! I thought you were going to make a version of what I know as spaghetti pie, but it's quite different! My family would love this :)

I we nt with your advice and used 2 jars of spaghetti sauce. My entire family gobbled it up! There is nothing left! This is comfort food for me. :) My whole family will be here Thanksgiving week. This sounds like the perfect meal for Saturday when we're all tired of turkey!

"Spaghetti Pie" is, I'm pretty sure, what made the husband fall in love with me. It's the first thing I ever cooked him or dinner and he just loved it. My recipe is a bit different than this, but this sounds great! I love the addition of cream cheese. Mmmmm!

My husband is not a big fan of spaghetti, lasagna, or really pasta in general. But I thought I'd give this a try. He loved it! He said that he would prefer this over other pasta dishes. My children scarfed this down too. Great Recipe! Loving this blog! Thank you!

I love this! Sometimes I make it with sprial noodles and shredded chicken instead of ground beef just to mix it up a bit but I love it both ways!

I have made this multiple times. It's a good change up from plain old spaghetti.

If you're in the mood for it, it's delicious... but you have to be willing to do those few extra steps (because Spaghetti is already easy).

Overall though, it can be worth it!
